Siorek Takes First Career PRO Podium at Bark River

After a successful rookie season in the PRO-Light division, Siorek Racing decided to run a limited schedule for the 2018 campaign. The team decided to pool its resources to run the Bark River event as well as the season finale over the Labor Day weekend at Crandon. The decision was definitely spot on as Matt Siorek and #28 Starmont Manufacturing/Star Tool & Die Kenda Tire PRO-Light finished the weekend with two great performances, including the team's first podium finish at the PRO level. Must have been the Klever R/T tires!

The limited schedule allowed Matt and his Northern Indiana based team to fully prepare the Chevy powered hot rod. Unfortunately, the team's diesel hauler came up with an unexpected engine issue that put Siorek's debut in the Lucas Oil Midwest Short Course League in jeopardy. Thanks to plenty of late nights, everything was ready for the trek to the Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Once at the track on Friday, pit set-up and truck prep went smoothly, except for a late afternoon rain storm that cancelled Siorek's much anticipated first practice session of the season. Fortunately, the Saturday morning skies were clear and the quick practice session had Matt running quick competitive lap times right from the get go.

Saturday's afternoon ten lap race saw the season's newcomer start from the back of the pack. When the green flag waved, and #28 Starmont Manufacturing/Star Tool & Die Kenda Tire PRO-Light quickly moved up to get in contention for a top three finish. Late in the race a great battle between Siorek and Rayford began to unfold with The #29 PRO-Light finishing the race in fourth place.

"The truck felt really good today and it was great to race with Chad (Rayford), remarked Matt Siorek. "Taking fourth today was pretty good considering it was the first time on a track in nearly a year."

Overnight the team made a few changes as Sunday's prep was completed by Saturday night.

Sunday's PRO-Lite finale was similar to Saturday's race. Matt race very solid laps and once again found himself in a battle with Chad Rayford as the two were for spots on the podium. A slight misstep allowed Rayford get past, but at the flag Matt Siorek pressed on for his first PRO-Light podium with a third place finish.

"This is incredible," exclaimed Matt Siorek. "At the end of 2017 I really felt we made a ton of progress with not only the truck, but my driving. I knew this team could get on the podium and it happened. Going door to door with Chad, another Kenda Tire racer, was just awesome. We planned on a partial schedule and I really like how the track at Bark River flows, so we knew we had to be here in 2018. I have to thank my mom and dad for all their support, all my friends that help out at the shop and at the track as well as my sponsors that have contributed in different ways helping us get to the track. I can't wait for Crandon."

Next race for Siorek Racing is August 31 in Crandon, Wisconsin.
